Building

2020

We are right now preparing for Phase 3 which will provide a stand-alone building for a library and reading room. We have the funds necessary for the foundations, and are praying for God’s continued and amazing provision for Servants of the Word and for The Gambia, to be able to complete the building and move in with 900+ books.

Even with the dormitory and classrooms in use, we still have some finishing work to do, including window glass, internal ceilings, and painting. We are also constructing an outdoor kitchen area and a new Security Hut at the main gate, which will hopefully be finished before the rains come in June/July.

2019

Ten students finally moved in to the lovely new dormitory in October 2019!

You can see the progress on the dormitory below: January, April and August 2019

And progress on the farm houses which will be used by SOW staff.

The Servants of the Word Christian College opened at the Tubakuta campus on 16th September 2019. The first few students arrived and we started teaching in the classrooms

A Google Earth update in April 2019 shows the dormitory foundations, just to the back of the classroom block.

2018

Fund-raising and building began in 2018 for Phase 2 – to construct a student dormitory. Five thousand blocks were moulded on site for the foundations and walls.

2017

Phase 1 of the building project was completed in 2017, providing three classrooms and some office and storage rooms. Aerial view from Google Earth in December 2017 showing the classroom block.

2015

In 2015, land for a campus was purchased at Tubakuta (in rural Gambia) to enable the school to operate on a residential basis.

2012

Servants of the Word was founded in September 2012, and teaching and training started on a part-time basis using rented classrooms in a compound shared with the Fellowship of Evangelical Students of The Gambia (GamFES).
