At Tubakuta College:
Preaching & Discipleship
This is a one-year highly participative classroom-based course equipping students with the necessary tools for biblical interpretation, the theology and practice of preaching, book-by-book analysis of a wide range of Bible books, and lots of practical experience preparing and delivering sermons and talks.
The ‘Explore the Bible’ module provides an overview of how the whole Bible fits together. Students can choose to take the external exam, which is set and marked by George Whitefield College in South Africa.
The Discipleship module is based on The Lord’s Harvest material written by the Navigators, and includes the key principles of disciple-making, inductive Bible study and scripture memorisation. All essential elements of ‘every servant being a disciple and a disciple-maker.’
Classes take place each week during term time on Mondays through Thursdays at Tubakuta College. Students are normally expected to live on campus and return to their home or placement church each weekend.
Mission
Students will gain practical and theoretical knowledge to equip them in the area of church planting, including the Biblical foundation of mission, issues in 21st century mission, alternative mission strategies, and the concept of church planting. The one-year Mission course is based on DVD lectures and seminars. Students are required to write a short summary for each one of the 200+ DVD sessions, and will be given practical experience in outreach, helping to establish a church plant or house fellowship. This course can lead to a Certificate in Mission awarded by the South African Theological Seminary (SATS).
Agriculture
In addition to enrolling on one of the above courses, every Tubakuta student will learn how to support their ministry with subsistence farming. Farming God’s Way is a well-balanced biblical, technological and management approach to sustainable farming. Farming God’s Way is a practical approach to equip and provide for individuals, families, and communities with small farms, throughout West Africa.
Languages
As we are able, Tubakuta College will add literacy programs to equip students with English, French, Mandinka and Wolof.
Ministry Skills
Other programs will be offered, including Administration, Children's & Youth work, Evangelism, Mission, Prayer, Understanding Islam and Women's Ministry. These programs will be included from time to time, to further equip students to serve the local church and the community.
At Fajara:
Discipleship
This is a one-year classroom-based discipleship course based on The Lord’s Harvest material written by the Navigators, called 'Rooted in Christ'.
